Students will perform one or two styles in our Holiday Showcase in December.  They may also perform at a local nursing home during the holiday season.  Students will perform all styles in our June Recital.

Pre-Class attire includes: a leotard (any color), white/soft pink/black tights, skirt, and ballet shoes and tap shoes.  Hair should be pulled back away from the face.

Ballet – Ballet is the backbone of dance and is strongly recommended for dancers of all styles.  Ballet is a highly disciplined and technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology.  It originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia.  Ballets have graced many stages around the world for centuries.  This form of dance fills the dancer with great poise, skill, and dedication. Classes follow a strict progression to build muscle and core strength to help support the dancer’s body not only in ballet but in all styles.  Classes focus on technique, movements across the floor, center floor work, and performance.  Ballet is strongly recommended for all dancers of all styles since it is the fundamental root of dance. It is mandatory for our lyrical dancers to participate in ballet class.

Ballet attire includes for girls: black leotard, white or soft pink tights, ballet shoes (ties tucked in), and hair in a bun.

For boys: white shirt tucked in, black pants, and ballet shoes.

Tap – Tap is one of the most iconic forms of dance.  From the back streets of New Orleans to the stars of the silver screen, and onto the bright lights of Broadway, Tap Dance is a timeless treat to the senses – percussive and expressive in equal measure.  Our tap classes have been a hit for over 30 years!  Classes consist of a rhythm warm-up and center floor combinations and will include timing and leg/foot coordination.  If you love the idea of tapping out rhythms and improving your timing, fitness, performance and fine motor skills, tap dance is the style for you!

Tap attire includes: black leggings or jazz shorts, leotard or dance top, tap shoes and hair in a ponytail or bun.

Jazz – Jazz utilizes both sharp and fluid movements to create a visually technical and stylized dance form with linear lines and isolations. Jazz was originally derived from ballet and modern; and has been danced to a variety of music including Broadway Showtunes, different trendy songs throughout the decades, edgy or eclectic sounds, instrumental jazz or blues, and popular commercial music of today.  Classes consist of a center floor warm-up, progressions across the floor and center floor combinations.  Our jazz class builds strength, confidence, and coordination through jazz technique, flexibility, and style.  We have a lot of fun trying new tricks, push the limits of our dancer’s goals each week, and work on innovative choreography in combos and dance routines.  During jazz, we also train in theater and character dance along with acting and expression. Students will be turning, jumping and leaping their way out of class and onto the stage.

Jazz attire includes: Black leggings or dance shorts, leotard or dance top, hair in ponytail or bun.

Lyrical – Lyrical dancing is characterized by strong emotions that are sparked within the dancer or choreographer.  Lyrical dances are performed to music with tender, feeling lyrics or to instrumental pieces of music that inspire expressive movements and emotions.  This style was influenced and created by the fusion of ballet and jazz.  In our lyrical classes, we also concentrate on contemporary, modern and lyrical jazz. All styles are similar and use some sense of creative movement, or emotion through expressive dance.  Our teachers open up the minds of students to explore outside the box.  We focus on shapes, levels, improvising skills and continue to work on conditioning, flexibility, and core strength.  Ballet is a requirement for all Lyrical classes.

Lyrical attire includes: black leggings or dance shorts, leotard or dance top, hair in ponytail or bun, with lyrical shoes or toe undies.

Hip-Hop – Hip Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music, rap or music that has evolved as part of the hip-hop culture.  Hip-hip dance is a fun, upbeat and high energy class that infuses the latest styles of mainstream commercial/video dancing, breaking, popping, locking, and even interpretive movement.  Classes will encourage students to express their own personality and individual style while staying healthy and fit!

Hip-Hop attire includes: Your own fashion that you can still dance in and CLEAN SNEAKERS!!
